Emmet County Board certifies June 2 primary election, adopts Resolution 26-18

The Emmet County Board of Supervisors unanimously certified the results of the June 2, 2026 primary election at its June 9 regular meeting, adopting Resolution 26-18 after an official canvass presented by Roxanne Budach, Election Deputy.

Budach reported turnout numbers of 801 votes cast in person on election day, 181 absentee ballots accepted for counting and zero provisional ballots, for a total of 982 ballots. The board stated that no obvious clerical errors were identified during the canvass and moved to formally certify the results under §50.24 of the Code of Iowa. The motion to adopt Resolution 26-18 was made by Supervisor Tim Schumacher and seconded by Supervisor Todd Glasnapp; the board voted Schumacher-aye, Glasnapp-aye, Pluth-aye, Quastad-aye and Hansen-aye.

The certification lists the primary winners and candidates as reported in the county canvass. Among the Republican results recorded for offices located wholly within Emmet County were U.S. Senator Ashley Hinson; U.S. Representative District 4 Chris McGowan; and state offices including Governor Randy Feenstra and Secretary of State Paul D. Pate. The Democratic party results recorded included U.S. Senator Josh Turek and U.S. Representative District 4 Dave Dawson; several county offices and some legislative seats were reported as having no candidate listed in the county canvass.

The board’s formal certification is an administrative step required to finalize local results following the county canvass. No contested clerical issues or provisional-ballot disputes were recorded in the minutes. The board adjourned other business after approving the resolution.
