Audubon County board approves hiring, utility permits and routine claims

The Audubon County Board of Supervisors on Oct. 28 approved several personnel and road-related actions, including a hiring resolution for the Secondary Roads Department and utility permits for township roads.

In a formal resolution (2025-58), the board hired Nathan Folk as Equipment Operator B (Grade 2, 1-year column) in the Secondary Roads Department, effective Nov. 3, 2025, at an hourly wage of $24.33; insurance coverage is to begin Jan. 1, 2026. The resolution was presented on Oct. 28 and passed with the board’s recorded vote of "all in favor." The minutes do not list a roll-call tally by name.

The board approved Mid-American’s utility permit for Sections 6 and 7 in Leroy Township (along 170th Street and Goldfinch Avenue) and approved Casey Mutual Telephone Company’s permit for Sections 3 and 10 in Audubon Township. Those motions were moved and seconded by Supervisors Don Mosinski and Kent Grabill and were recorded as passing unanimously.

Supervisors also approved meeting minutes from Oct. 21 and authorized payment of submitted claims totaling $39,779.15 to be published at the end of the month. In discussion about facility costs, Supervisor Kent Grabill reported that the rented courthouse recycling bin from CRS will be removed and that county custodial staff will haul recycling to the transfer station to avoid rental fees.

The board reviewed and approved County-wide Policy 37 (Right to Use Lease Asset) and amended Policy 38 (County-owned Personal Property Disposal) to replace the general term "County" with "Audubon" and to add a signature line.

The board entered a work session later in the day to review FY25 budget-to-actual figures and adjourned at 2:45 p.m.
