Commission reappoints two members to Covington County E911 Board, delays third seat

The Covington County Commission voted May 26 to reappoint two current members to the county’s E911 Board and postponed filling a third seat.
Chairman Michael Smith said three E911 Board positions expire May 31, 2026, and noted nine applicants had applied. Commissioner Lynne Holmes said she believed current members wanted reappointment. Commissioner Ben Courson moved to reappoint Jamey Wismer and Cory Spurlin; Holmes seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Mrs. Sowell told the commission Marvin Williford indicated he was amenable to not being reappointed if the commission wished to appoint someone else.
Commissioner Tommy McGaha said he had not reviewed all applicants, asked that the remaining seat be tabled, and the commission agreed to consider that vacancy as old business at the next meeting.
