Region 15: 25 homeowners selected for owner-occupied rehab program; contracts and environmental review to move forward

Jenny from Region 15 told Orange County commissioners that a scoring committee reviewed applications for an owner-occupied rehab housing grant and selected 25 homeowners (plus alternates) for the available funding from more than 70 applicants.
Jenny said proposed contracts for a radon inspector and a home inspector have been prepared and reviewed, and she requested authority for Marshall to sign the environmental review letter that must be submitted to the state. "$500,000 does not go as far as we'd like it to," Jenny said, noting high demand and emotional responses from applicants; she described calling selected homeowners and said contractors are lined up to begin work when contracts are executed.
A motion to approve the contracts and authorize the environmental review signature was made by Commissioner Steve and seconded by Commissioner Richard; the board voted in favor.
