Council approves no-parking zones on Meadow Drive and North 24th to protect emergency access

Blair's council on June 9 approved no-parking zones on portions of Meadow Drive and North 24th Street to improve emergency access in the Still Meadows neighborhood.
Mr. Heaton said a resident and council members raised concerns following a winter fire where firefighters had trouble maneuvering large apparatus through parked cars. "If you get one car in the wrong spot, it really kind of hampers things for the big fire trucks," he said, describing tight turning radiuses and prior difficulties getting an ambulance through the area. Heaton proposed installing no-parking signs on the affected side(s) of the streets and sending letters to neighbors before doing so.
Council transportation committee members endorsed the change and council adopted Resolution 2026-072. Staff indicated the city will post signage and notify nearby residents before enforcement.
