Urban Renewal public hearing opened but action stalled until City signs joint agreement

At 10:15 a.m. on Oct. 21 the Audubon County Board of Supervisors opened a public hearing on an Urban Renewal Amendment but did not take action because a joint agreement with the City of Audubon had not been executed.
Chairman Heath Hansen told the board the missed deadline was the City’s responsibility: "this falls on the City of Audubon," he said, adding that he had reminded city officials several times the agreement needed to be completed by the meeting date. Supervisor Kent Grabill confirmed the item did not appear on the city council’s published agenda for Oct. 21; after a phone call with Mayor Lansman it was confirmed the city would hold a special meeting on Oct. 22 to consider the agreement.
Because the joint agreement was unsigned, the county recorded that it could not act on the Urban Renewal Amendment at the Oct. 21 session. The public hearing was closed at 10:30 a.m. with supervisors noting the City Council would take up the matter at its special meeting.
