Lenoir honors Parks and Public Properties Division as 2025 North Carolina Main Street Champion

The City of Lenoir on March 17 formally recognized the Parks and Public Properties Division of the Public Works Department as the community’s 2025 North Carolina Main Street Champion for downtown revitalization and upkeep.
Mayor introduced the award and asked Public Works Director John Hogan and division lead Jeff Holland to accept the recognition alongside staff from the Main Street Downtown Revitalization Committee. Hogan thanked the mayor and the Main Street organization, praising the Public Works staff and describing the division’s early accomplishments since reorganizing the team.
Jeff Holland emphasized the team focus, saying, “this isn’t Jeff Holland’s award. This is the team's award,” and credited staff with the daily maintenance, landscaping and seasonal displays visible downtown. The mayor noted the division will be recognized again at the city’s downtown awards next month.
Council members, staff, and committee volunteers joined division staff for photographs and applause to mark the recognition.
The presentation highlighted ongoing downtown projects including wayfinding signage with locally selected artwork and seasonal banners celebrating the city’s anniversaries.
