Lenoir council approves Pennel Street bridge repair contract and appoints John Arnaud to planning board

At its March 3 meeting the Lenoir City Council approved routine business items including a bid award for the Pennel Street Gateway pedestrian bridge repair and an appointment to the planning board.
On the consent agenda the council approved three items: (A) minutes of the Feb. 16 city council meeting, (B) minutes of the Feb. 24 committee-of-the-whole meeting, and (C) a recommendation to award the Pennel Street Gateway pedestrian bridge repair contract to Shotcrete Contractors Incorporated for a lump sum of $59,700. Council member Thomas made the motion to approve items A through C and the council voted unanimously by voice.
Later in the meeting Mayor recommended appointing John Arnaud to the planning board to serve the unexpired term ending June 2027. Council member Presswood moved to approve the appointment; the council approved the motion by voice vote.
City Manager Hildebrand also announced upcoming meetings, including planning board (March 9), city-county service committee (March 9), ABC board (March 12), Lenoir Business Advisory Board (March 12) and Parks & Recreation Board (March 16).
