The Lenoir City Council honored two longtime Lenoir Police Department officers at its Jan. 20 meeting.
Mayor read resolutions recognizing Major Kobe Stillwell for nearly 30 years of service, noting his appointment on Jan. 15, 1998, subsequent promotions to sergeant, lieutenant and captain, selection as major in 2025, community roles and awards; the resolution said he will retire under the North Carolina Local Government Retirement System on Feb. 1, 2026. The council presented a key to the city and gave him the city’s gratitude.
The council also read and presented a resolution recognizing Master Patrol Officer Marshall Paul Roupert’s 17 years of service, listing roles including downtown enforcement officer, recruiter and trainer, and noting his retirement under the state retirement system effective Feb. 1, 2026; the city presented a city flag in recognition of his service.
Both officers offered brief remarks thanking the council, their colleagues and their families. The retirements and the resolutions were incorporated into the meeting agenda and consent items.
