Dobbs Ferry appoints three directors to Volunteer Ambulance Corps board amid MOA and funding review

The Dobbs Ferry Board of Trustees voted June 9 to appoint John Hagstrom, Heather Morrison and Elizabeth Stock as the three village-appointed directors to the Dobbs Ferry Volunteer Ambulance Corps board.
Trustees described the appointment as part of a memorandum of agreement between the village and the independent nonprofit ambulance corps. Under the arrangement discussed at the meeting, the board structure will include three village-appointed directors and three directors the ambulance corps appoints; those six will select a seventh member. Trustees said the restructured board is expected to develop a business plan addressing volunteer recruitment, fundraising and the corps’ operating budget — elements that will inform the village’s monthly funding commitment.
Trustees noted the current MOA expires at the end of June and that the village may consider a three-month funding extension while the new board finalizes a plan. The mayor said she will serve as liaison to the ambulance corps and report back to the board on the new board’s progress and any budget requests.
One trustee said the village depends on the volunteer corps for health and safety services and that the new board brings energy and capacity to address volunteer recruitment and financial sustainability. The appointments were approved by voice vote.
