Mount Carmel officials report pool construction progress, wastewater pump work and street maintenance schedule

"We hope to have a full color rendering of exactly what the bath house is going to look like. ADG is working on that right now and we are continuing our fundraising," the Mayor said. The Mayor also said the contractor (Garmong) is staging materials on site and that the city is offering naming-right and brick‑purchase opportunities to support construction.
Commissioner Meadow said the first sections of sidewalk on Park Road (from North Drive to Aaron Drive) are finished, crews have been filling potholes and performing equipment maintenance, and the street sweeper and chip‑and‑seal prep work are underway.
Commissioner Meeks reported that wastewater plant screw pump No. 4 has been installed but described a recurring bell‑breaking issue that staff think may be related to shaft speed; staff plan to test different belts, including Kevlar, to reduce wear.
Mr. Garcia reported a fuel pump outage at the QT pod machine and said a repair person was scheduled to arrive the next day. Public works staff reported oil‑and‑chip work planned for July 16–17 and follow‑up work the week of July 23–24; crews will distribute door hangers and signage to affected homes ahead of the work.
Commissioner Zimmerman announced the Fire Department’s "Touch a Truck" event on June 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with lunch available about 11 a.m.
What happens next: project managers will continue pool construction and fundraising, public‑works crews will proceed with design and scheduling for Park Road work after the MFT resolution passed, and the city will notify residents about street‑work schedules.
