McPherson County Planning Commission reviews draft zoning regulations, sets May 28 meeting

The McPherson County Planning Commission reviewed a rough draft of proposed zoning regulations during its quarterly meeting on April 30, 2026, in Tryon. Mr. Dunn of the West Central Nebraska Development District provided each member with the draft for review and participated in the discussion of next steps.
Chairman Mike Krull opened the meeting at 7:00 PM and noted that public posting requirements had been met; he also referenced the Open Meetings Law posted on the courtroom’s north wall. Roll call recorded six members present in the courtroom — Mike Krull, Scott Hoberg, Matt Burch, Jerry Moritz, Karen Haller and Kent Fisher — with Whitney Schroeder participating via Zoom.
On attendance, Krull moved to excuse Vernon Waits, Arlan Paxton and Chelsey McNutt from the meeting; Matt Burch seconded the motion, and the commission voted unanimously to excuse the three absent members.
Procedural business followed. Matt Burch moved to approve the minutes of the prior meeting as presented; Jerry Moritz seconded, and the motion passed unanimously.
The substantive item on the agenda was the draft zoning regulation packet presented by Mr. Dunn of the West Central Nebraska Development District. Commissioners reviewed the rough draft and discussed timing and next steps for review. After that review, Jerry Moritz moved to set the next Planning Commission meeting for May 28 to continue consideration of the draft; Kent Fisher seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
With no further business, Matt Burch moved to adjourn, Scott Hoberg seconded, and the commission adjourned at 7:55 PM.
