A presenter told the board the district had expanded the scope of the project and would ask for $198,000 (up from an earlier $90,000 plan) to cover tuition for adult-education students in the Pathways Up CDL program. "That will pay the cost of tuition for our adult education students in the pathways up CDL programming," the presenter said, adding the program partners with ECTC to provide hands-on certification while the district provides theory instruction.
Officials said the program targets roughly 44 adults across the coming year and aims to recruit veterans — about 25 of the slot targets — as a priority for the grant. Board members asked whether CDL completers could become bus drivers in the system; presenters confirmed that they would be eligible pending required safety training.
The motion to approve the grant application was made, seconded and approved by voice vote.
