Committee adopts sewer utility compliance report for submittal to Wisconsin DNR

The Public Works & Utilities Committee voted June 8 to adopt resolution 2026‑016, approving the 2025 Compliance Maintenance Annual Report for the Weston sewer utility and authorizing staff to submit the report to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
Staff said the report is a routine self-evaluation of the sewer system’s operation and maintenance and noted there were "no immediate critical problems." Utility staff also highlighted an upcoming inflow/infiltration (INI) study intended to identify and reduce extraneous flows into the sanitary system; staff said the INI work is expected to start late in June and could help reduce wastewater volumes that drive treatment costs.
A committee member proposed a minor wording amendment to the report language to correct a typographical issue; the committee approved the amendment and then approved the resolution by voice vote.
Next steps: staff will submit the adopted report to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and pursue the INI study schedule with the consultant.
