The Hanover Area School District Board of Education recognized two Students of the Month at its June 9 meeting.
May Student of the Month Jaden Rivera told the board he learned perseverance through personal challenges and through starting a student-led club. Rivera described struggling during junior year and how supporting classmates and maintaining effort ahead of an AP exam helped him persevere. "Perseverance...is a continued effort to do or achieve something despite difficulties," Rivera said, adding that the experience helped him "stay true" and perform well on the AP exam. Rivera said he will attend King's College in the fall.
The June Student of the Month, identified in the transcript as "Beck," said participating in clubs and athletics shaped his high school experience and thanked two teachers by name: Mr. Callahan and Mr. Dober. He also thanked his parents, Liz and Bob Specky, and said he will attend Lock Haven University.
Mr. Cipper (who introduced the students) and board members offered brief congratulations. The recognition came during the superintendent's report portion of the meeting.
The board emphasized congratulations to the class of 2026 during remarks that followed the student recognitions.
