Westwood council adopts payment‑in‑lieu parking rule and $1.04M bond for public improvements

The Borough of Westwood Mayor & Council on May 19 adopted two ordinances affecting land‑use rules and capital spending.

Ordinance 26‑15, "An Ordinance Adding Article XXVI Payment In Lieu Of Parking to Chapter 195 Land Use and Development," was opened for a public hearing and received no public comments. Council President Letizia moved for final adoption; the motion passed on roll call (Councilmembers Bicocchi, Collins, Dell and Greco voted yes; Councilmember Hodges was absent; Letizia voted yes). The ordinance will be published as required by law.

The council also adopted Ordinance 26‑16, a bond ordinance to authorize $1,040,000 for various public improvements. That ordinance likewise had no public comment during its hearing and passed final reading on a similar roll call vote (Hodges absent). Notices of adoption will be published in the borough's official newspaper.

Earlier on the agenda the council introduced two additional ordinances on first reading: 26‑17, appropriating $18,000 from the Recreation Trust Fund to renovate Community Center bleachers, and 26‑18, appropriating $20,000 from capital fund surplus for general code codification; both were scheduled for a June 9 public hearing.

The council approved a consent agenda of resolutions covering the bill list, opioid settlement receipts, audit corrective actions, street closures for Heritage Society events, personnel authorizations, grant receipts and other routine matters.

The adopted ordinances take effect following the publication of a Notice of Adoption in the official newspaper and any statutory waiting periods.
