Williston approves U.S. Air Force Reserve aerial mosquito-control operation subject to local Vector Control decisions

The Board of City Commissioners approved a congested-area operation for the U.S. Air Force Reserve to provide aerial mosquito-control services in coordination with Williams County Vector Control.
Airport Director Ryan O’Rear said the service is planned tentatively for July 13–17 and Aug. 10–14, 2026, but dates may be adjusted depending on determinations by the local Vector Control Board. O’Rear added that any spraying activity will be advertised in the newspaper, television and radio as required by law.
On a motion by Commissioner Bekkedahl, seconded by Commissioner Gjovig, the council authorized the congested-area operation. The authorization is conditional on coordination with the Vector Control Board and required public notice obligations.
