Ripley County commissioners approve routine facility and safety contracts, several equipment purchases and personnel allowances

Among the motions approved, commissioners accepted an annual fire- and life-safety service agreement with Crosbin (annual service $3,389.50) and a related five-year internal inspection schedule (additional $1,177) after staff described the vendor’s shorter lead times and lower annual cost compared with the prior vendor. Commissioners moved, seconded and approved the annual service contract by voice vote.
Alex Pool, EMS director, presented a $7,800 quote to replace the Versailles station HVAC unit; commissioners approved the replacement and directed payment from building-maintenance funds or an alternative appropriation. Tara Briggs of the health department received approval to use county facilities for a July 11 back-to-school event and an August 8 community baby shower and to send one countywide email to county employees to recruit departments to participate in a multi-county wellness challenge.
The board also approved a memorandum documenting attendance at a June 2 joint executive session with area planning, accepted the May 21 minutes and approved claims and payroll. Commissioners voted to grant a limited personnel deviation for a forthcoming planning director hire — adding 40 hours of compensatory time to be used within an agreed period — and a separate motion to grant two weeks of vacation starting on day one for the candidate the planning commission recommended.
