Chief Renard Adams, speaking for the district leadership, framed the resolution as a values statement in a national climate he described as marked by efforts to restrict the expression and identities of LGBTQ+ students and staff. “To our LGBTQ+ students, please hear me clearly. You are not just accepted here. You are essential,” Dr. Adams said, urging the board to pair the resolution with daily policy actions and classroom practices.
Directors moved the resolution, which passed 7–0 with the student representative voting yes. Board members thanked Adams and several directors described attending local Pride events and encouraged continued public engagement.
The resolution commits the district to adopt supporting practices, and Dr. Adams said the administration will follow up through policy and implementation work to align curricula and student-safety measures with the district’s stated values.
The board did not identify additional immediate budget commitments tied to the resolution; implementation was framed as an ongoing district priority.
