Bonham council accepts petition for Legacy Ridge PID, sets June 8 hearings for PID and TIRZ

City Manager Sean Pate told the Bonham City Council on May 11 that a petition has been filed to create the Legacy Ridge Public Improvement District, a step the city must take to begin the PID process. Pate said the project’s full buildout would be approximately 400 homes and the council adopted a resolution accepting the petition and setting a public hearing for June 8, 2026 at 5:30 p.m.; the City Secretary was authorized to issue the required notice.
Pate also explained that creation of a Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone (TIRZ) for Legacy Ridge had been anticipated in the previously approved development agreement; the council set a separate public hearing on June 8 to consider creating the TIRZ and authorized issuance of notice. Both resolutions passed unanimously.
The council’s action begins formal public-notice and hearing steps; any subsequent approvals (formation of the PID or TIRZ) would follow the public hearing and statutory steps outlined by state law.
