Regional staff inspected the Madison Parish Health Unit and presented a list of recommended repairs and facility upgrades the jury reviewed on May 11, 2026. The recommendations aim to improve safety, functionality and the patient environment.
Key recommendations recorded in the meeting minutes include repairing a sticking handicap entry door; modifying ductwork to prevent condensation; possible mold abatement for ceiling areas and ductwork; designating a staff member to process Police Jury invoices and to route payroll for employees assigned to the health unit; remodeling the laboratory to consolidate freezers and refrigerators; installing a Smart TV in the waiting room; updating public restrooms (including countertops); strip-and-wax of floors; replacing lighting throughout the building; installing a covered entryway from the parking lot; restriping the parking lot; removing old rolling charts; ensuring regular HVAC service; acquiring breast models for educational use; and installing a mosquito spray system.
The secretary was directed to confer with engineers to address the items outlined. A separate letter requesting sponsorship for recreation activities at the fairground was referred to the Recreation Board. During public comment, Ms. T. Bailey addressed the jurors and was referred to the Hospital Service District.
