Pleasant Valley board honors veterans, flag-essay winners and state golf champions

The Pleasant Valley Community School District board recognized community partners and student achievements at its June 8 meeting.
American Legion representatives Rob Kane, Jared Richardson and Carl Krying presented the fifth-grade flag-essay contest awards and announced school-level winners, noting high participation this year and that the overall winner, Emmery Holly, was not present. "The fifth grade essay contest is one of the favorite things that we do this year," Rob Kane said, thanking administrators and teachers for supporting the program. The board said essays would be attached to the meeting newsletter and arranged for photos of winners.
Later the board introduced the Pleasant Valley Girls 4A state golf champions and their coaches. Coach Sean Kingy and assistant coach Neil Green described the team's comeback and singled out a player who shot 65 in the state tournament to win the individual title. Board members congratulated the team and noted the players will travel to Pinehurst in July to compete in the National High School Girls Golf Tournament.
The recognitions highlighted community partnerships (American Legion) and student success in academics and athletics, and board members publicly thanked retiring staff and coaches for their service during the meeting.
