The Midway City Council approved routine and policy items at its June 2 regular meeting, including the consent agenda, a sign grandfathering, a temporary noise permit for High Valley Arts and a policy governing municipal use of artificial intelligence.
The council approved the consent agenda (agenda, warrants and prior minutes) on a motion from Council Member Andy Garland with Council Member Andrew Osborne seconding. Council then heard departmental reports and brief presentations before taking votes on several items.
On a motion from Council Member Andy Garland and a second from Council Member Andrew Osborne, the council granted a grandfathering exception for the Storyboard sign at 201 East Main Street, approving installation with depth and dark‑sky‑compliant top lighting; the painter was authorized to begin that weekend.
Council approved a special events temporary use permit allowing High Valley Arts Foundation to exceed sound limits for a musical production at 200 South and 400 East; the motion approved the permit and did not waive the application fee.
The council adopted Resolution 2026‑12, which amends Midway City policies regarding municipal use of artificial intelligence; Recorder Brad Wilson noted an exhibit reference was removed from the final language. The council also approved minutes for Feb. 17, 2026 (prepared with AI); Council Member Lisa Orme abstained because she was excused from that meeting.
Two procurement items — an audiovisual systems installation and a network cabling/Wi‑Fi buildout — were continued for additional staff review. The meeting adjourned at 8:38 p.m.
