Volo trustees approve parcel disconnect, several contracts and present 2026 scholarships

The Board of Trustees of the Village of Volo met on May 5, 2026, and approved a series of routine and infrastructure items while presenting the village’s 2026 scholarships. The meeting, presided over by Mayor Stephen Henley, began at 6:00 P.M. and adjourned at 6:26 P.M.
Mayor Stephen Henley presented scholarships to Angela Salamat, Eric Ramirez, Grayce Haschak, Johanna Hart, Jordan Siegler, Sophia Francisco, Faith Healy, Diego Chapa, Vani Patel and Emma Malak. The presentation preceded a series of formal votes approving minutes, bills and contracts.
Trustees approved the Minutes of April 28, 2026, and authorized payment of bills listed in the Treasurer’s Reports for April 30 and May 5, 2026. The board approved Ordinance No. O-26-07 to disconnect a 1.43-acre parcel at 28052 W IL Route 120 from the Village. The board also approved Resolution No. R-26-291 expressing support for an existing municipal housing authority’s role in land use and zoning and reiterating that community-led land‑use policies should be preserved.
On infrastructure and procurement, trustees approved a one-year contract extension with Schroeder Asphalt Services for pavement patching, which includes a 5.0% unit price increase; a contract with Safe Step LLC to perform a comprehensive sidewalk evaluation; and a contract with Associated Technical Services to perform a comprehensive leak detection survey. The board also authorized installation of a fuel tank at Public Works and the purchase of fuel through the Suburban Purchasing Cooperative joint purchasing program.
Trustee Wagner provided a brief update on the Economic Development Committee. The Mayor had no report. With no public comments, Trustee Porter moved to adjourn, Trustee Wagner seconded, and the board adjourned at 6:26 P.M.
