Rosford Baseball Club urges capital upgrades as program doubles in size

During public comment at the June 8 meeting, Jimmy Granditz, wearing a Rosford Baseball Club hat, told council the program has grown from 83 players in 2023 to 165 this year and urged officials to plan capital investments at Vets Park and Beach Street.

Granditz said growth came across ages from T-ball through eighth grade and that field availability could become constrained if the high school adds junior-varsity or freshman teams in coming years. He described specific safety and usability concerns: an estimated one- to two-foot drop-off behind the infield at the marina field, an encroaching hill along the right-field line at Beach Street, and a patched-in right-handed batter's box that relies on a rubber mat. He asked council to consider surfacing upgrades, slope remediation, and installation of batting cages; he offered that the club would partner on improvements.

Councilmembers acknowledged the request and thanked the club for volunteering and for the reverse-raffle fundraising event. No specific funding or schedule for field upgrades was proposed at the meeting; Granditz asked only that the issue be put on council's radar for future capital planning.

The club representative provided these participation counts and safety observations on the record; council did not take immediate action but the comments were entered during the public-comment period.
