Greendale moves ahead on GIS mapping, Dearborn streetscaping and Valley Woods development

Staff said GIS utility mapping, funded from riverboat funds and approved for purchase, is already installed on city staff computers and will help utilities manage underground assets. Board members discussed whether to enable public‑facing GIS features — such as resident reporting for potholes or snow‑removal status — but staff said the city currently lacks the capacity to support public access and that feature is deferred for now.
Mike reported that Patriot Engineering has completed subsurface borings in the proposed Stellar Ridge Avenue streetscaping project area and that staff will prepare a resolution for council to confirm Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) eligibility. Staff proposed scheduling a public hearing as soon as June to solicit public input on aspects of the streetscape design.
Anthony updated the board on Valley Woods (referred to in discussion as Copper/Copper Creek Apartments) and said electric design by KPG was completed and retaining‑wall work began for the first building. He said soil stabilization remains in progress and crews struck a 12‑inch water main during recent site work; appraisals for a property off Sycamore Woods Drive were ordered but are not expected before the June meeting.
Staff said basement surveys and field mapping have been done to identify underground conflicts and that further updates will come as construction contracts and grant applications proceed.
What happens next: staff will prepare the CDBG eligibility resolution for council and schedule the proposed June public hearing; GIS mapping will remain internal for now with potential future public features under consideration.
