Board member Mr. Traynor asked for a pause after raising concerns about the vendor's charter-school connections and asked for more time to vet the organization. Hannah Whitley, the district's deputy grants director, said the federal grant application was submitted that day and that federal review could take about three months.
A motion to table the item passed on a roll-call vote with recorded "yes" votes from Mr. Benavides, Mr. Woodson, Ms. Perez, Mr. Sakalaukas, Ms. Burks-Jennings, Mr. Daniels, Mr. Traynor and Mr. Medina.
What happens next: Administration will provide additional vendor information and timeline details to the board and return the item for consideration after review and grant-award clarity.
