Greenwich Township Committee: votes at a glance — budget, land purchases, ordinances approved

Major votes at the meeting included adoption of the 2026 budget and ordinance 108/2026 implementing a cost-of-living adjustment (COLA). The committee also introduced ordinance 109/2026 setting 2026 salaries; members noted DPW salary numbers remain to be finalized and may be amended later.
On land and preservation matters the committee adopted a resolution to contribute $161,467 from the open-space trust fund toward purchase of the Hoser property, and voted to support Warren County’s purchase of a development easement on the Risco farm (43 acres). The committee also approved redemption of a tax lien (block 23.16, lot 1) and adopted resolution 6126 supporting a calendar raffle for the Greenwood Township Historical Society (one member abstained because of society involvement).
Personnel and appointments approved by roll call included the corrected appointment of Timothy Web as fire official and approval of probationary firefighter Kyle Mullen and auxiliary certified medical assistant Victor Mizer. The committee authorized the police chief to advertise to fill an officer vacancy created by a resignation.
Regulatory actions included adoption of ordinance 107/2026, an amendment to municipal code banning data centers. In executive session the committee discussed contractual matters related to the municipal complex and attorney-client privileged matters; the committee later approved resolution 6426 authorizing the land-use attorney to execute a final compliance consent order for the fourth round of affordable housing.
Less formal motions approved at the meeting included waivers of park-use fees for a Girl Scout bridging ceremony and a high-school academic club potluck, and acceptance of routine reports (consent agenda) for police, DPW, clerk, zoning/code enforcement, and court. Several motions passed by unanimous roll call; where roll-call tallies were read, the transcript records the majority of members voting yes.
The committee plans to revisit outstanding budget/salary details (notably DPW pay) at a future meeting. Public comment at the meeting raised questions about timing and notification for affordable housing submissions; the committee said developer materials and planner/attorney input are expected before next month’s meeting.
