Staff highlighted several revenue and cost drivers: increasing net assessed valuations and gross production, recent enrollment gains at some schools (notably Bill Wallace) and continuing declines at others; an estimated increase in state aid that may not cover fixed-cost increases; and an expected payroll increase that staff roughly estimated in the mid-six-hundred-thousands. The presenter said a preliminary projection showed a potential fund-balance decrease, which is typical for June estimates before all revenues are collected.
Board members asked for supporting gross-production detail and clarification on how state formula changes might offset local increases. Staff said they will provide supplemental data and return in October with final appropriations.
