Kitsap commissioners approve multiple advisory‑council appointments and reappointments

The Kitsap County Board of County Commissioners approved a slate of appointments and reappointments to community advisory councils at its meeting.
The board reappointed Elena Volaterra to a three‑year term on the Kingston Community Advisory Council and reappointed Sharon Holst, Janelle Overton and Gentry Beardy to three‑year terms on the Manchester Community Advisory Council. Motions for those reappointments were moved and carried by voice vote.
The board appointed Thelma Ruiz to the Veterans Advisory Board for a three‑year term ending Dec. 31, 2028. After the vote Thelma Ruiz thanked the board and said she plans to "spread the word" about the advisory board to fellow veterans.
Commissioners also approved reappointments and appointments to the Developmental Disabilities Advisory Board, including Jennifer Acuna and Shannon Turner. Commissioner Walters outlined the advisory board’s role, citing its responsibilities to review service plans, funding applications and community education related to developmental disability services. Shannon Turner, who was reappointed, said the role ‘‘means a lot to me’’ and stressed the importance of inclusion and accessible playground planning.
All motions were carried by voice vote during the meeting.
