Normandy Park City Council authorizes Teamsters Local 763 contract through 2030

Normandy Park City Council on March 24 authorized the city manager to execute a five-year contract with Teamsters Local 763 covering Jan. 1, 2026, through Dec. 31, 2030.

The action came at a special meeting during which City staff member Amy Arrington summarized the agreement and said the union had ratified it. "It's a five-year contract, from Jan. 1, 2026, through Dec. 31, 2030," Arrington said, and added the contract is “substantially the same” as the prior agreement but includes clarifying language and pay adjustments.

Why it matters: the agreement resets the bargaining unit’s terms after the previous contract expired Dec. 31, 2025, and staff said the changes aim to keep city pay competitive and improve employee retention.

Key details: Arrington said on-call pay will increase from $50 to $100 and the longevity scale was adjusted to provide larger steps after eight years of service up to the 25-year mark. Staff said the changes mirror recommendations from a recent salary survey used to align city pay with the market.

Council procedure and vote: Council member Sue Holheimer moved to authorize the city manager to execute the Teamsters Local 763 contract as presented; the motion was seconded and the mayor announced that the ayes had it. The council carried the motion at the special meeting; the decision authorizes staff to finalize and sign the contract on the city's behalf.

What happens next: Staff will execute the contract consistent with the ratified terms and return to council only as required for implementation or budget reporting.
