Lyon County Library trustees unanimously approve agenda, March minutes and claims; set strategic planning meeting for May 30

The Lyon County Library System Board of Trustees met on April 28, 2026, in Yerington and by videoconference. Trustee Jan Schardt moved to adopt the agenda and Trustee Patti Palmer seconded; the motion passed unanimously. The board then approved the March 24, 2026 meeting minutes (moved by Trustee Kay Edwards, seconded by Trustee Sara Ross) and accepted the claims for April 28, 2026 (moved by Trustee Patti Palmer, seconded by Trustee Jan Schardt), each by unanimous vote.
The unanimous approvals came after the board confirmed a quorum of five trustees — Sara Ross, Kay Edwards, Patti Palmer, Jan Schardt and Nora Stevens — and recorded the presence of Library Director Wynne Prindle and Library Technician JenNifer Stockwell-Schardt. No members of the public spoke during the meeting’s public participation periods.
Director Wynne Prindle noted that the library’s annual Strategic Planning meeting is scheduled for May 30, 2026; that was provided for information only and no board action was taken on planning at this meeting. In reports from Friends-of-the-Library groups, Trustee Jan Schardt said the Smith Valley Friends of the Library (SVFOL) will begin scholarship interviews and will participate in the Smith Valley Victorian Tea. Trustee Sara Ross discussed a Dayton authors event and a planned children’s authors event. Trustee Kay Edwards reported the Silver Stage Friends will hold a book sale on May 9; Trustee Patti Palmer said the Fernley Friends will hold a book sale on May 30. Director Prindle added that the Mason Valley Friends participated in a local craft fair.
Trustees noted the board’s next regular meeting will be held at the Yerington branch on May 26. The meeting adjourned at 10:01 a.m.
