The Farmingdale Board of Trustees approved a series of routine and substantive measures during its March 4 regular meeting, including land-use approvals, administrative appointments and a contract to support a state grant application.
The board granted a special-use permit for 195 Main Street to operate as a bar/restaurant after opening and closing the public hearing with no public comment. Deputy Mayor William Barrett opened the hearing and the board approved the permit following motions by Trustee Priestley and Trustee Rosasco.
Trustees also approved a subdivision at 345 Staples Street. Officials said both resulting lots meet village standards and no variances were required; the board approved the subdivision and directed the fee be paid to the Parkland Fund. The board had a brief public comment period in which a few residents said they understood the subdivision’s legality but expressed regret and one asked for a village-wide survey of potentially subdividable lots.
The trustees moved to amend the Village Code to permit code enforcement to manage and issue tickets in the CVS parking lot at 450 Main Street; the board opened and closed the public hearing with no public comment and adopted the change.
On administrative and contract matters, the board approved a proposal from P. W. Grosser for continued Water Infrastructure Improvement Act (WIIA) grant-application support at a cost of $45,000, with any additional services billed at the hourly schedule in the proposal. The board also approved a range of routine business items, including audited vouchers, minutes, building-permit listings and appointments: Laura Sanchez was appointed as a Spanish translator for the village election, and Robert Carle was recorded as an alternate election inspector following an earlier work-session action.
Other items recorded included a tax certiorari settlement for TP Realty Enterprises concerning 354–356 Main Street that provides a $4,000 refund and reduces assessed value to $800,000 for 2018/19–2023/24, the removal of a veteran’s exemption for 25 Stratford Green due to sale and the removal of a senior exemption at 53 William Street following the owner’s death. The board also accepted village and court audit reports from Nawrocki Smith LLP.
The meeting concluded after additional administrative updates and public comments.
