Selectmen deny tax abatement, approve pollinator gardens and review Article 14 encumbrances

The Moultonborough Board of Selectmen on June 2 took several administrative actions including denying a tax abatement, approving a conservation project, and reviewing outstanding encumbrances tied to a prior warrant article.
Vice Chairman Charles M. McGee moved to deny the abatement filed by the Robin D. Campbell Trust for the improved residential parcel at 426 High Haith Road (MBLU# 081‑012‑000). The motion, seconded by Selectman Christopher P. Shipp, passed on a 5–0 vote.
The board also approved a proposal from Anni Jakobsen of the Conservation Commission to install pollinator gardens at the Transfer Station; Selectman Shipp moved the motion, seconded by Selectman Karel A. Crawford, and the motion passed 5–0.
Finance Director Andrea Picard updated the board on encumbrances tied to Article 14, noting three remaining items that will automatically carry over because Article 14 is a non‑lapsing special warrant article: Public Safety Storage Pole Shed, DPW Pole Shed, and the Town Hall Space Needs concept study. Picard said the Selectmen will sign requests to the Trustees of the Trust Funds at the next meeting to reimburse various expenses.
Town Administrator Angela Bovill also told the board she plans to begin a structured strategic planning process with the Selectmen and department managers and noted an upcoming vote at the June 16 meeting on the Wage & Classification Study RFP so funds can be encumbered to move that work forward. Bovill reported meetings with Chief Bengtson, Lt. Cavic and Ossipee Mountain Electronics about next steps for the Simulcast Communication System.
