"In 2021 we had 82 volunteers. And then in 2022, we tripled, more than tripled to 315 volunteers," Moore said.
The mayor pro tem described routine litter-removal operations that expanded into broader community assistance, citing examples: helping a newly arrived school teacher unload a moving truck in July and removing a fallen tree for an elderly disabled veteran. Moore said the volunteers had logged "over 2,000 volunteer hours" so far in 2023 and that the group received recognition from the county supervisor’s office in 2022.
Moore encouraged residents and businesses to join the volunteer effort, emphasizing community building and civic engagement as key benefits. The mayor and Chamber hosts framed the program as an example of local residents addressing quality-of-life issues through recurring civic service rather than waiting for government-only solutions.
The remarks did not announce new funding, contracts or formal city policy changes related to the volunteer program; the presentation was a recognition and recruitment appeal.
