The Airport Advisory Commission endorsed a plan to secure the airport electrical panel with combination locks and to give the combination only to hangar tenants after they attend a scheduled tutorial and sign a rules-and-procedures form.
"The recommendation was that we put combination locks on the panel and we give the combination to all of the hangar tenants," the chairman said, explaining the approach is intended to balance tenant access with overall safety and city oversight. The chairman said the session could be run by city staff or by the commission and would include a short form for tenants to sign confirming they had been briefed on proper circuit-panel use.
Staff suggested the city mail tenants with two dates to accommodate schedules and emphasized that someone from the city should participate in the sessions. Commissioners said they could volunteer to help run sessions if staff needs assistance.
Commissioners said they will draft a short safety procedure and a simple sign-in form; the proposal was discussed as an operational measure and not put to a formal vote during this meeting.
