Centre County proclaims June 2026 Dairy Month; dairy princess highlights local farms and economic impact

The Centre County Board of Commissioners on June 5 adopted Proclamation 33, declaring June 2026 Dairy Month in Centre County. Kimber, introduced as the 2026–2027 Centre County Dairy Princess, thanked the board and described the local dairy sector’s role in the county’s economy and rural heritage.

Kimber said Centre County is home to 73 dairy farms that care for about 7,192 dairy cows, with an average herd size of roughly 99. She told commissioners the dairy industry contributes approximately $173 million annually to the county economy and supports about 719 jobs in transportation, processing, veterinary services, feed supply and related businesses. "These family farms help maintain the agricultural character for our community," Kimber said.

Commissioners praised dairy farming’s local economic and cultural role and encouraged residents to visit farms and local dairy-themed attractions during June. The board took a photo with the proclamation and milk bottles before returning to other business.

The proclamation passed by voice vote; no roll-call tally was recorded on the public transcript. The county will host promotional events and a farmers-market appearance later the same day.
