Mayor read the document at council chambers and said the city stands “firmly against all forms of hate, including antisemitism, racism, intolerance, and bigotry.”
Councilmembers expressed unanimous support for the proclamation and connected the resolution to recent national and international incidents. Alicia said the council must continue “talking about” atrocities such as the Armenian genocide and the Holocaust so future generations remember. Peter Kraut, Ed and David echoed the importance of education and community vigilance.
The proclamation will be posted on the city website, and the mayor said the council hopes the statement encourages local dialogue and mutual respect.
