Kitsap Planning Commission adopts agenda and minutes; public comments raise salmon-runoff and park-safety concerns

At the start of the meeting the Planning Commission approved the evening's agenda and unanimously adopted the minutes from the April 26 meeting after motions and seconds were recorded.
During the first public-comment period, an online commenter identified as Mr. Palmer asked whether Kitsap County roads and road runoff affect salmon and whether the rural lands analysis briefing would address that issue. "To what degree do the Kitsap County roads and that runoff affect salmon?" he asked.
Port Orchard resident Debbie Walsh told commissioners she has repeatedly seen minors riding electric dirt bikes on Jackson Park fields and walkways, performing wheelies and damaging grass. "There's a group of young, I would say they're minors, that are riding their electric dirt bikes or electric bikes, and they're riding them in the baseball area," Walsh said, urging signage and enforcement to keep motorized vehicles off fields and trails.
A commissioner noted that the public-comment period is not a Q&A but suggested the resident submit a SeeClickFix report and contact District 3 Commissioner Katie Walters; staff also noted the parks department page on the county website as a resource. A commissioner suggested consulting Silverdale Water for practical input on cell-tower leasing in relation to upcoming code updates.
The commission closed the second public-comment period with no speakers and adjourned at 6:14 p.m. The next Planning Commission meeting is scheduled for June 2 at 5:30 p.m.
