Staff says ALDOT reviewing right-of-way map as Marshall County plans HSIP grant application for roundabout

County staff provided a status update on a planned roundabout and related funding steps during the commission meeting.
Staff said the county has provided ALDOT with a right-of-way map; after ALDOT reviews and approves the map a surveyor can locate the right-of-way and utilities can provide relocation estimates. Staff said the county intends to apply for a Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) grant to help pay for right-of-way acquisition and utility relocation. Quoting staff: "Once ALDOT reviews that, approves it, and locate the right of way so that the utilities can give us our estimate... Once that's done, we started the process of applying for a grant, the HSIP." Staff also said they were "targeting for probably January '27 bid late," language that staff used to describe an anticipated future bidding timeline.
No new appropriation, construction contract, or final bid schedule was approved at the June meeting; staff provided the procedural next steps and said further cost estimates are pending utility responses and ALDOT action. The commission did not vote on contract or construction work during this update.
