City staff presented the FY27 budget calendar to the Everman City Council on June 9, outlining key dates and milestones for development and adoption of the fiscal 2027 budget.
The schedule includes a public town hall on June 24 to solicit community input, department head reviews June 29–30, the first budget workshop on July 7 (compensation, benefits, and fund expenditures) and a large general-fund expenditures workshop July 9. Staff noted that the certified tax roll from TAD (tax appraisal district) must be received no later than July 25; the council’s proposed tax-rate work is scheduled for July 28 to allow three days for adjustments after the certified roll arrives.
Staff said the proposed budget book will be distributed Aug. 11, followed by a public hearing and special council meeting on Aug. 25 to discuss the tax rate and proposed budget. Final ratification of the tax rate is planned for Sept. 8.
Council members asked clarifying questions about the certified tax-roll timing and staff confirmed the three-day window between receiving the certified roll and proposed tax-rate work is intentional to allow revenue assumptions to be updated. Staff emphasized the budget book will be themed around America 250 for the year.
Next steps: Staff will proceed with the calendar, prepare materials for the town hall and workshops, and return to council with proposed budget documents and any adjustments after receiving the certified tax roll.
