At the Everman City Council meeting on June 9, a police representative delivered the department’s May summary, reporting 1,578 calls for service and an uptick in mutual-aid requests tied in part to a triple shooting that remains under investigation with assistance from the Texas Rangers.
The presenter said outside agencies — including Fort Worth Police Department, Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office and Forest Hill Police Department — assisted during the triple shooting response and later returned the favor on other calls. The department reported one major traffic crash in May, nine total traffic crashes, three hit-and-runs, 33 court citations issued and 34 warnings.
On crimes against persons, the presenter said the department handled nine simple-assault calls and two aggravated-assault investigations; one sexual-assault investigation was deemed unfounded. Property crimes were down, with two vehicle burglaries reported. The presenter urged residents to lock their cars to reduce thefts.
The department reported three school-related fights and ongoing staffing work: three vacancies are open, several applicants are in process and an interview was scheduled the following morning.
The department closed by reminding residents about the Celebrate America event on June 27 and encouraging turnout. The presenter said the investigation into the shooting is ongoing and provided no additional suspect or victim details at the meeting.
Next steps: The police representative said the department will continue to coordinate with outside law-enforcement partners and will provide updates to council as the investigation progresses.
