Lovington secures $1.25M Water Trust Board award and approves planning grant application for water‑line redundancy

Separately, the commission approved filing a Local Government Planning Fund (LGPF) application (typically around $50,000) through the state Department of Finance and Administration to finance planning tasks tied to that project.
"What I'd like to do this time is pursue the water transition lines," staff said when recommending the LGPF application. The commission approved the application submission without objection and instructed staff to continue preparing the technical memo and grant materials required for larger capital funding requests.
Officials said the Water Trust Board award and planning funds are part of a coordinated approach to secure grant funding for capital upgrades and to make the system more resilient.
