Virginia ULC commissioners adopt updated virtual‑meeting policy

Virginia members of the Uniform Law Commission unanimously adopted an updated virtual meeting policy during their Richmond meeting, moving to permit electronic participation and to allow the commission to conduct up to two fully virtual meetings per year so long as there is an intervening in‑person meeting.

The chair asked Emma, a staff presenter, to summarize the changes. Emma said the update “would allow for electronic participation in in‑person meetings” and permit the commission “to conduct all virtual meetings” consistent with state law, adding that remote participation must be requested and noted in the minutes.

A motion to adopt the policy was made, seconded and carried by voice vote after the chair called for ‘ayes’ and heard none opposed. The commission recorded the outcome as a unanimous passage of the policy.
