Commissioners acknowledged the hire kept costs far below typical market rates for a medic.
Commissioners also discussed counselor pay tiers tied to experience and a staffing-ratio adjustment used to control costs. Staff said the department reduced counselor counts by moving from a 1:6 ratio to a 1:8 ratio for some age groups. John said camp income usually totals roughly $100,000 to $120,000 per season depending on enrollment, and that camp fees and timing across fiscal periods generally balance the budget.
A motion to approve the summer-camp personnel list, including the paramedic hire and background checks, passed without further amendment. The commission noted supporting documentation (the detailed payroll/budget worksheet) is available in the packet and offered to provide additional line-item totals on request.
