Council approves intergovernmental and road maintenance agreements, and a Memorial Day street closure

The Milford City Council voted to approve several administrative agreements and an event closure during its May 11 meeting.
Council approved an agreement with the Northwest Iowa Planning and Development Commission on a motion by Shane Hoffman, seconded by Jantina Carney; the motion passed unanimously. The council also approved an agreement for Maintenance and Repair of Primary Roads in Municipalities. Public Works Director Kent Eilers commented that because the agreement expires in 2031 he recommended the city and the Iowa Department of Transportation meet to discuss runoff and other implementation details before that expiration.
Separately, the council approved closing H Avenue between 9th and 10th streets for the Memorial Day Legion ceremony (motion by Kyle Mohni, second by Shane Hoffman); the motion carried with four ayes. Mayor Bob Clark and council members indicated interest in future agenda items, including a potential speed-limit reduction on A34 eastbound from the four-way stop; Police Chief Shilo Brevik reported that stop signs along A34 have been installed and Public Works Director Eilers will follow up with the county on required white striping.
All recorded motions in these items passed unanimously.
