- Marion County Day on March 28: more than 200 vendors expected and an audience projected near 15,000, with food trucks, department displays, a drum line and student art contest. - Veterans Hall of Fame event (presented by Vets Helping Vets) sold out at 350 attendees and will be held at the Southeastern Livestock Pavilion on March 19. - July 4 synchronized fireworks: four displays planned — Ocala Marion Veterans Memorial Park, Wrigley Field / Citra, Danellin High School and the Bellevue Sports Complex — with festivities beginning at 5 p.m. and fireworks at 9 p.m. - Sponsorships: AdventHealth provided a $75,000 title sponsorship; Tartt said the county is approaching $125,000 in commitments and a board fundraising goal of around $300,000 for the Americana Ball and other ticketed events.
Tartt described other programs including a veterans‑story video archive, an ‘America Praise’ weekly prayer initiative, and a painted ‘Liberty’ horse art installation being coordinated with the Marion County Cultural Alliance. Board members asked about fundraising targets and logistics; staff said they would return with specific site options and ongoing outreach to municipal partners and HOAs. The update closed with a request that commissioners help identify sponsorship leads.
