Staff explained the resolution documents the prior review of Red Iris and a separate applicant and includes language to protect the city’s interests: the resolution allows the city to revoke the registration extension if the applicant "fails to promptly acquire the property or to make substantial and timely progress renovating the building." Reed Hutton told the council that the timeline for state licensing is controlled by the Office of Cannabis Management and contractors, so the city’s added language is intended to give the city a measure of enforcement over local progress.
Councilmember Karen Peterson moved the resolution; Council Vice President Tim Riael seconded. The council then approved the resolution by roll call.
Outcome: Resolution 26‑06‑53 passed on roll call and the city will monitor Red Iris LLC’s property acquisition and renovation progress as a condition of the preapproval.
