Ambulance service reports positive net through September; fee schedule revisions to return to Public Safety

Ambulance-service staff told the Sawyer County Finance Committee that billing activity has improved and the ambulance service showed a positive net income of approximately $52,000 through September.
The presenter said collections were volatile but billing volumes are at an all-time high, and staff noted they are working to increase transports because transports are more reliably reimbursed. "We're actually Billing at an alltime high" and "we are positive of $52,000 ambulance service through September," the presenter said. Committee members commended staff and highlighted that increasing transports could improve revenue recovery.
Staff reported accounts-receivable trends: the percentage in the oldest aging buckets has decreased and current receivables have improved, though overall collection percentage remains below prior-year highs. The committee discussed staffing constraints and strategies to boost transports and collections; staff also noted they had changed billing companies during the period and that this affects comparables.
An updated ambulance fee schedule is under consideration. Staff said Public Safety postponed action earlier and that the finance committee should be aware that amended fee amounts will be presented to Public Safety next month for further review before any final adoption.
