The H Heartland Children's Business Fair, proposed by Chloe, was approved for Nixon Park on Thursday, Aug. 13, with Aug. 20 as a backup date. The board also approved the H Heartland Chamber of Commerce’s business trick‑or‑treat on Oct. 22, including a road closure from Pauling to Cottonwood and cross streets identified in the application. Police and Public Works outlined resource needs to secure the closure — dump truck, plow trucks, barricades and operators — and warned there will be additional labor costs (estimated as eight staff at time‑and‑a‑half for roughly two hours). Trustees emphasized safety as the primary reason for the closure while acknowledging parking and staffing impacts. The police department and DPW will coordinate logistics with the organizer and will provide cost estimates for staffing and equipment.
